I want to preface this by disclosing that I’m a generally happy and upbeat person. I think context is important and may help the reader relate or at least better understand the writer’s perspective. I am a human; and we humans are equipped to experience a multitude of emotions. Of course, I also have glum days, “blah” days, or, when I deny myself the care my body and spirit need, after a while there is a noticeable melancholy/heavy sadness.
I’ve always been a person who finds contentment in watching television. I suspect I have spent thousands of hours, cumulatively, cozying up on my couch and watching TV. And feeling perfectly content blowing through a whole series or several movies on a Saturday. I enjoy watching shows and movies that teach me something, are evocative, creative, original, and/or just plain goofy and put a smile on face. For me, it’s a form of decompression from whatever occurred during the week, and a time to recharge for whatever is upcoming. I also recognize that I can “escape” into television. For clarification, I’m not promoting “couch rotting,” just admitting to it. And sure, it’s not my only hobby; there are other things I do to raise my spirits. TV is relatively accessible for most folks, so just sharing – take it or leave it my darlings. If TV isn’t a mood booster for you, I totally understand! Do the thing(s) that raises your dopamine.
